Tansy

“This was so quick to knit! Pattern was easy to memorize and knit without constant re-checking from pattern and I could
easily watch tv while knitting. It still looks fascinating and more difficult than it truly is.
” – Taru

I am thrilled to announce the release of a new rhyFlower design, Tansy, a potato chippy one-skein wonder featuring Celtic Raven Fibres.

Tansy represents my newfound calmness. Not needing chaotic lace to escape in, just a mindless rhythmic knit that I could quickly work on without the pattern after a few repeats. There’s a sort of peacefulness in such a knit, which is entirely new to me as I usually desire highly engaging knits.

Tansy, a one-skein triangular-shaped shawl, worked on the bias, has easy to remember repeats that make this a very quick knit. This shawl is also easy to modify if you’d like to use more skeins to make a bigger shawl. The simply eyelets of this one-skein wonder will work beautifully with solids, semi-solids, speckles, and variegated yarns, utilizing that one of a kind skein that may be lingering in your stash! As a one-skein project, this shawl works up quickly – ideal for last-minute gift-giving. 😊

Worked flat, Tansy contains written directions, charts, and is broken down into comprehensive sections. The pattern includes detailed instructions for the techniques used and a handy-dandy progress tracker to help you keep track of your row and stitch counts.
Want a bigger shawl? Perhaps you’d like to use 2 or 3 skeins instead of just one. It couldn’t be any easier! Repeat sections 1 & 2, finishing off on section one, then head straight to section 4 and finish your shawl off! Remember, creating a bigger shawl will change the yarn requirements for this project.

    • 90% Merino 10% Nylon – 383 yds (350 m)/ 4.2 oz (120g)
    • Colorway: Sailor’s Delight
  • Substitution Info: Any merino/nylon blend fingering weight yarn will do! The perks of this one-skein wonder is that the stitch pattern itself works with yarns, regardless of how speckled/variegated they are! It’s a fabulous way to use up that single skein in your stash that you’ve been unable to pair up with a mate.
MATERIALS USED:
  • US7 (4.5 mm) 40” (102 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Progress keeper or locking stitch marker (optional)
  • 367 yds (336 m) fingering weight yarn
GAUGE:

16 stitches by 28 rows in garter stitch = 4” (10 cm) on US7 (4.5 mm) metal needles, after blocking. While gauge is not important, as the fit is not crucial, changes in gauge will result in size differences and the amount of yarn needed to complete the project.

Approximately 66” / 168 cm across the wingspan, 24” / 61 cm deep after blocking.
