This pattern consists of both charts and written directions. It’s constructed in 4 sections, a double herringbone down the center, two cone sections fanning out to the sides, and a lace edge along the bottom. We begin with the middle section, pick up along the edges and create the two wings of the shawl, and finish off with a lace edge to tie it all together. All sections are worked flat, since we pick up stitches there’s no pieces to sew together at the end.
Ssk: Slip 2 stitches knitwise, then knit slipped stitches together.
Sssk: Slip 3 stitches knitwise, then knit slipped stitches together.
K2tog: Knit 2 stitches together.
K3tog: Knit 3 stitches together.
YO: Wrap the working yarn over the right needle, from front to back (counter-clockwise).
Sl1: Slip one purlwise
S1-k2tog-psso: Slip one stitch knitwise, then knit 2 stitches together and pass the slipped stitch over.
4.0mm/US6 needles, Straight or circular as you prefer.
