Alberto

$8.25

My charming neighbour, Alberto, truly tugs at my heartstrings! One day, a gentle knock on my door revealed him standing there, wearing a slightly forlorn expression. His beloved hat — imbued with a sentimental value from his move all the way from Colombia to Canada — had met an unfortunate fate. It got snagged and torn, leaving Alberto in need of a hat-rescue mission.

Alberto, being the conversational dynamo he is, often engages in lively hat discussions with Curt. So, when faced with finding a new hat, he naturally thought of me as the go-to person for such a quest.

Eager to rise to the occasion, I handed Alberto the creative reins, letting him choose the colourway for his upcoming headgear masterpiece. Without a moment’s hesitation, I embarked on the journey of designing and crafting a new hat for him. The goal? To ensure that Alberto doesn’t endure too many chilly moments without a cosy, warm, and freshly hand-knit hat to call his own. It’s not just about functionality; it’s about weaving a story of warmth and style, stitch by stitch!

Description

Worked from the bottom up, Alberto is a versatile hat pattern allows you to craft a perfectly fitting hat seamlessly in the round. The construction involves starting with the brim, progressing to the body, and culminating with shaping the crown. As you approach the final stages of the crown, you’ll need to switch from using 16” / 40 cm circular needles to either the magic loop method or double-pointed needles, depending on your preference for tackling smaller circumferences.

A notable feature of this hat pattern is its versatility in accommodating different sizes. For the pattern motif and crown, there are both written directions and charts available. You’ll be able to work independently with your preferred directions once the brim is done.

Jerrah Robbins provided professional tech editing for this pattern.
