Anita

$7.00

Anita is a sock pattern that pays homage to the strong-willed character Anita, portrayed by Rita Moreno, in the iconic film West Side Story. Inspired by her resolute stance against discriminatory lyrics, Anita serves as a beacon of empowerment. Her unwavering commitment to voicing her concerns led to a transformation in the very fabric of the songs she was meant to perform.

In this pattern, I celebrate the spirit of individuals like Anita, who courageously challenge the norms and advocate for what is just. It’s a reminder of the importance of breaking down barriers and championing righteousness. My admiration for those who fearlessly stand up for their beliefs knows no bounds, and I’m honored to contribute to the legacy of empowerment through this creative endeavor.

Description

Worked in the round, Anita contains both cuff-down and toe-up written directions and a chart for the pattern stitch. The pattern has instructions for a peasant heel (afterthought heel using scrap yarn), but you may substitute whatever heel you enjoy using (links included for alternatives).

The pattern is written for the magic loop method for knitting socks; however, the design could be worked on double-pointed needles or mini-circulars instead should you prefer (ensure you denote your instep stitches with extra markers – so you don’t miss the placement of the heel or toe shaping).

This pattern is available in our Standard formatting. Low-visibility and screen-reader-accessible versions of this pattern are available with this pattern purchase. The low-visibility format is 24pt print in Arial, black font, no italics, and contains written directions (there are no charts to work from). The screen reader format has all the items mentioned above, contains no abbreviations, and accessibility was checked by the read-aloud function on both a Windows PC and Android device.
