Requiem of Stillness

$11.25

Requiem of Stillness is a wonderfully squishy top-down triangular shawl that is an absolute treat! Oodles of scrumptious brioche adorns the main body of this multi-sized shawl. The body of this shawl is an easy-to-remember 2-row brioche motif that allows you to go patternless before you know it! Then, depending on your style, you have the option to add a little lace border to give it a little flare.

Description

Requiem of Stillness – My sample uses a self-striping shawl yarn for the main body. If you don’t have self-striping shawl yarn available to you, the same effect could be created using leftovers or mini skeins, joined together with a Russian Join

Worked flat, this knitting pattern contains written directions and charts. A link to a handy-dandy progress tracker is included to help you with your row and stitch counts should you need it.

The body of Requiem of Stillness shines well with self-striping, solid, semi-solid, lightly variegated, or speckled yarns. The Applied Lace Bind-off lends well to more solid or semi-solid. Picking an appropriate yarn for this project will ensure the yarn and the pattern are not in competition with one another, rather, they’re working together to create something magical.

This pattern is available in our Standard formatting. Low-visibility and screen-reader-accessible versions of this pattern are available with this pattern purchase. The low-visibility format is 24pt print in Arial, black font, no italics, and contains written directions (there are no charts to work from). The screen reader format has all the items mentioned above, contains no abbreviations, and accessibility was checked by the read-aloud function on both a Windows PC and Android device.

US2 (2.75 mm) 40” (100 cm) circular needles, or size required to obtain gauge
US5 (3.75 mm) 40” (100 cm) circular needles, or size required to obtain gauge
(We alternated the needles with each row through the body of the shawl. If you have interchangeable needles, you could have the larger on one end and the smaller one on the other end so you don’t have to remember to switch needles)

Gauge

17 stitches by 30 rows in pattern motif = 4” / 10 cm, after blocking. While gauge is not important, as the fit is not crucial, changes in gauge will result in size differences and the yardage required to complete the project.
