The Dancer is a delightful hat pattern that shows off the delicateness of Poppy Yarn & Fibre’s The Dance Lesson colorway. The shiny silk fiber of their Siena DK base is stunning with the stitch pattern.

Worked in the round, The Dancer contains written directions and charts. This hat pattern features 3 sizes; Small, Medium, & Large. The Dancer includes a hat worksheet, so you know how to measure your head to achieve a perfect fit. Notes for a hat with less slouch have been added to the pattern as well.

The Dancer is written to be worked on circular needles. When the crown becomes too small to continue, you’ll switch to the magic loop method. However, the pattern notes do contain details should you wish to use double pointed needles throughout instead.

• US4 (3.5 mm) 16” (41 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge
• US6 (4 mm) 16” (41 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge
• Four US6 (4 mm) double pointed needles (DPNs), or size required to obtain gauge (These are optional if you prefer not to work the crown with magic loop.)
• Tapestry needle
• 2 locking stitch markers
• Pompom (Optional)
• 150-175 yds (138-160 m) DK weight yarn

Gauge
16 Stitches by 22 rows in pattern stitch = 4” (10 cm) on US6 (4 mm) needles, before blocking.

Sizing – (Please refer to sizing guide on page 3 of this pattern to assess the correct size for you.)
Small (S): 16” (40 cm) circumference, 11” (27 cm) /15” (38 cm) deep. An ideal size for 16-18” (40-45 cm) circumference heads.
Medium (M): 20” (51 cm) circumference, 11” (27 cm) /15” (38 cm) deep. An ideal size for 20-22” (52-56 cm) circumference heads.
Large (L): 24” (61 cm) circumference, 11” (27 cm) /15” (38 cm) deep. An ideal size for 24-26” (61-66 cm) circumference heads.
