Pattern Support

Pattern support is only available via email. This is the easiest and most effective way to reach me and put you into my workflow. My office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am – 12 pm MST. Any emails sent outside of office hours will get a response the next business day. Other methods of trying to reach me for pattern support will go unnoticed and unanswered. melinda@rhyflowerknits.com

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I purchase a pattern that’s beyond my skillset?

It’s fantastic that you’re eager to challenge yourself and expand your knitting skills! This journey of growth and learning is what makes knitting such a rewarding and enjoyable craft. However, it’s important to understand the nature of purchasing a knitting pattern from a designer. When you acquire a knitting pattern, you’re essentially obtaining a set of instructions and a design concept. The expectation is that you either already possess the necessary skills to complete the pattern or are willing to acquire those skills independently. It’s unrealistic to approach the designer with the assumption that they will personally guide you through the entire process.

A knitting pattern should not be equated with a formal class or course, where an instructor provides step-by-step guidance and support throughout the project. Knitting patterns are typically categorized by skill levels to help you gauge whether they align with your current abilities. If you find yourself drawn to a pattern that seems beyond your skill level, view it as an opportunity to grow. Dedicate some time to honing the required techniques and then return to the pattern when you feel more confident.

Remember that learning a new skill is a personal journey, and everyone progresses at their own pace. Fortunately, there’s a wealth of resources available to assist you on your knitting journey. In addition to the knitting pattern, utilize online tools such as Google and YouTube, where you can find countless tutorials and guides. Our blog is also a valuable resource filled with helpful knitting tips and insights. https://rhyflowerknits.com/blog/

So, embrace the challenge, invest in your knitting skills, and enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with mastering new techniques. With determination and the right resources, you can tackle even the most intricate knitting projects and create beautiful pieces to be proud of. Happy knitting!

What happens if I want to modify a pattern?

When it comes to making modifications to a knitting pattern, we understand that it can be a challenging and creative endeavor. However, it’s important to note that these modifications are not typically covered under our standard pattern support. We believe in empowering our knitters to explore their own unique ideas and skills when it comes to customizing patterns. If you find yourself wanting assistance with modifying a pattern, we offer a specialized 1-on-1 consultation service, similar to what a professional designer might require to work out kinks during their design process.

During a consultation, our experienced team will work closely with you to understand your vision and help you navigate the intricacies of pattern modification. Whether it’s adjusting sizing, changing stitch patterns, or incorporating personal design elements, we’re here to assist you in bringing your creative knitting project to life.

We understand that this level of personalized support is an investment in your knitting journey, and that’s why we offer it as a paid service. You can find detailed information about our consultation services, including pricing and booking options, on our website at the following link: https://rhyflowerknits.com/services/consultations/

We believe that knitting should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience, and we’re committed to helping you achieve your knitting goals, whether you’re following one of our patterns or embarking on a unique knitting adventure of your own. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if you’d like to schedule a consultation to make your knitting dreams a reality. We look forward to working with you and helping you create beautiful, customized knitted pieces.

Can I sell my hand-made items made from a rhyFlower Pattern?

Absolutely, it’s crucial to understand the ins and outs of copyright when it comes to crafting and creative endeavors. Copyright protection extends to the pattern itself, including all associated materials like written directions, charts, schematics, and photos. This protection is governed by copyright distribution laws in various countries, and it’s also a matter of ethical respect for the designers’ hard work and creativity.

In essence, you are not allowed to distribute any part of the pattern, whether in part or in whole, without obtaining consent from the designers. All patterns are purchased for personal use. Activities such as making copies for your friends, donating patterns to a library, or uploading them to the internet are all considered distribution of the pattern and are not only legally questionable but also ethically problematic. These actions can be perceived as theft and can have legal consequences.

However, when it comes to the finished object that you create using the pattern, it’s a different story. Copyright laws typically do not apply to the physical item you make from the pattern. Once you’ve completed your project, it becomes your personal property, and you have the freedom to decide what to do with it. You can gift it to a friend, sell it online through platforms like Etsy, or even showcase it at craft fairs and festivals. The finished object is entirely yours to use, share, or sell as you see fit.

In summary, while respecting copyright laws and the intellectual property of designers is essential, you can still enjoy the creative freedom of sharing or selling your finished creations without infringing on copyright regulations. It’s a balance between respecting the rights of designers and enjoying the fruits of your own creative labor.

Does rhyFlower Knits provide pattern support for your free patterns and patterns on your blog?

Regrettably, we are unable to offer pattern support for our free patterns, including patterns on our blog. These patterns are available for free on our website, and we have dedicated substantial effort to ensure they are well-crafted, tech-edited, and thoroughly test-knit. While we’re passionate about fostering a creative knitting community, we must allocate our resources judiciously.

To clarify, we are committed to offering high-quality free resources to all our users. In many cases, you can find valuable tips, tutorials, and frequently asked questions that may help address common issues or questions you have about our free patterns. Additionally, our paid patterns often come with dedicated support, so if you find a design you love and want more comprehensive assistance, consider exploring our premium offerings.

Does rhyFlower Knits provide pattern support for patterns from other designers?

We kindly request that you refrain from sending us emails regarding any issues you may have encountered in another designer’s pattern and seek guidance on how to navigate through it. While we genuinely strive to assist individuals to the best of our abilities, we regret to inform you that we are unable to assist in this particular matter. This decision is influenced by several factors that make it challenging for us to address such inquiries effectively.

First and foremost, we respect the intellectual property and creative rights of other designers. Analyzing and providing guidance on another designer’s work without their explicit permission could potentially infringe on their rights and creative autonomy.

Secondly, understanding and troubleshooting issues in patterns created by other designers often requires an in-depth familiarity with their specific design choices, techniques, and intentions. Without access to the designer’s insights and expertise, our ability to provide accurate guidance would be limited, and we might inadvertently provide incorrect or incomplete information.

Furthermore, our primary focus is on assisting our customers with patterns and designs created by our team. We are dedicated to ensuring that those who have chosen our products or services receive the highest level of support and guidance.

If you encounter challenges while working with patterns created by other designers, we recommend reaching out to the original designer or their designated support channels for assistance. They are best equipped to provide the specific guidance and insights you need to successfully navigate their creations.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns related to our own patterns and designs, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will be more than happy to assist you to the best of our abilities. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for the world of design and creativity.
