Anita

$5.00 USD

This third installment in the Night at the Movies Sock Club is inspired by West Side Story. I adore the choreography of The Gangs Fight in the Street from West Side Story (not so much the storyline as I’ve never been a huge Romeo & Juliet fan, plus there’s a lot of “yikes” undertones in this adaptation) and the musical score.

The pattern is named after Rita Moreno’s character Anita, who I learned spoke up against lyrics in songs that she was supposed to sing because they were discriminating and the writers changed the lyrics because of her amazing ability to stand up for herself and what was right. I have so much admiration for women who bust barriers like that.
