This warm hat features a delightful herringbone rib, perfect for keeping cozy those cold Alberta nights. This worsted weight hat provides a warm barrier against the cold.

Worked in the round, Blue Moon contains written directions and charts. This hat pattern features 3 sizes; Small, Medium, & Large. Blue Moon includes a hat worksheet, so you know how to measure your head to achieve a perfect fit.

Blue Moon is written to be worked on circular needles. When the crown becomes too small to continue, you’ll switch to the magic loop method. However, the pattern notes do contain details should you wish to use double pointed needles throughout instead.

• US7 (4.5 mm) 16” (41 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge
• US8 (5 mm) 16” (41 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge
• Four US8 (5 mm) double pointed needles (DPNs), or size required to obtain gauge (These are optional if you prefer not to work the crown with magic loop.)
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch marker
• 150-175 yds (138-160 m) worsted weight yarn

Gauge
22 Stitches by 28 rows worked in the round in pattern stitch = 4” (10 cm) on US8 (5 mm) needles, before blocking.

Size Information (Please refer to sizing guide on page 3 of this pattern to assess the correct size for you.)
Small (S): 19” (48 cm) circumference, 10” (25 cm) deep. An ideal size for 19-21” (48-53 cm) circumference heads.
Medium (M): 22” (56 cm) circumference, 10” (25 cm) deep. An ideal size for 22-24” (56-61 cm) circumference heads.
Large (L): 25” (64 cm) circumference, 10” (25 cm) deep. An ideal size for 25-27” (64-59 cm) circumference heads.
